Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania · Diocese No. 3
ELCT Pare Diocese carries the Good News through worship, education and social service across Same and Mwanga districts, walking with families and congregations in faith, hope and daily life.
Who we are
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania traces its roots to missionary work that began in the nineteenth century and grew, through union in 1963, into a national church of twenty seven dioceses. Pare Diocese carries that same inheritance of faith into the Upare hills of Same and Mwanga, where congregations gather in worship, learning and service to their neighbours.
A heritage of the Gospel. Grounded in the Word of God and Lutheran teaching, guided by the ELCT Constitution.
A holistic mission. Serving spiritual, social, economic and educational needs across every congregation.
A growing community. Part of a national church family that has grown from 500,000 to over 8.5 million members.
What guides us
A communion of people rejoicing in love and peace, blessed spiritually and physically, hoping to inherit eternal life through Jesus Christ.
To enable people to know Jesus Christ and have life in its fullness by bringing them the Good News through words and deeds, founded on the Word of God and Lutheran teaching.
